Terms of Service

Last updated: 29 September 2026

Plain-language terms. The short version: your identity is yours, the free tiers stay free, and we expect honest use.

The service

YourID provides a passwordless, verified digital identity you can use to sign in to connected services. Basic, Basic Age and Basic ID are free for individuals — permanently, as anchored in the Foundation's statutes.

Beta

YourID is in private beta. Features can still change, identity-document verification is not yet available, and occasional interruptions are possible. We'll tell you before anything that affects your account changes. You can delete your account at any time in Settings.

Your account

You must provide a working email address and keep control of your devices and passkeys. You may only verify documents that belong to you. One person, one YourID.

Honest use

Do not use YourID to misrepresent your identity or age, to probe or attack the service, or to build a competing scraping operation on top of it. We may suspend accounts involved in fraud — it is an identity service; trust is the product.

Partner services

Services you sign in to are operated by third parties. What they do with the claims you approve is governed by their terms and privacy policies; what they receive is governed by your consent screen.

Availability and liability

We aim for high availability but provide the service as is, without warranties. To the extent permitted by Dutch law, the Foundation's liability is limited to direct damages. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence.

Changes and termination

You can delete your YourID at any time in Settings. We may update these terms; material changes are announced on this page 30 days in advance. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
